These are recipes to common tasks like retrieving data from Nomis, geocoding addresses, and creating data visualisations like population pyramids. All the R code is provided along with step by step instructions. For those wanting an introductory guide to R check out R for Data Science.

These recipes have been created using the rmarkdown R package which makes editing easy. Any GitHub user (sign-up at github.com) can make changes to a recipe by selecting . Once you’ve made your edits you can submit your changes for approval. If you’d rather just make a comment you can post an issue on GitHub.

New recipes are also very welcome. You can create yours by downloading the recipe template. When you’ve completed your recipe send us a pull request.
